maybe not exploitation at it's roots but that's the best way I could describe this flick. anyone else check it out?
the premise is pretty cool, elvis ( gael garcia bernel? ) is just leaving the navy and going to find his birth father who ends up being a leader of a baptist church with a nice little family, ( played by william hurt ) He wants nothing to do with elvis, and shuns him away, not telling his family who the man is, but elvis starts a secret relationship with Hurt's daughter, um his half sister! and you don't want to know the dementia that follows...well of course you do, but god damn this film rocked my world.
the best way to describe it is a dark demented urban gothic fairytale. You knew the situation was fucked up, but you had no idea where it was going to take you, the acting was top notch, the story very good, I honestly can't praise this flick enough, it really had me going, probably snuck it's way into my top 5 flicks, although most probably won't like it that much, I highly recommend it.
