What's the feedback on this one?
I went to see it quite a few times at the theater. Unfortunately, it was rarely with a packed audience. Mostly I always had the auditorium to myself. Sad, really. Did I like the film, though? Well... I thought it was marginally better than part 3 (though Roman Bridger remains my favorite killer).
I honestly think they need to put the SCREAM films out to pasture. Their time has come and gone.

I agree.
I have no interest in seeing this at all. It's all been down hill since the first.
I think Craven had another trilogy in mind, but for one reason or another, I believe it's now on hold. Hopefully forever.

I have to admit that I really like SCREAM 2. I think it's on par with the original.

I couldn't get into part 2. I found the last 20 or so minutes were a little too imaginative. Yes I know that should be a good thing. It just didn't work for me though.

What do you mean by "a little too imaginative"? That's interesting. I'd like to hear more.

With where they went with the killer/s. I almost feel that they weren't sure who the killer/s would be until they were almost finished the film, then they just closed there eye's and pulled a name/s out of a hat. Honestly, I remember it being a little confusing. But to be fair, I haven't really watched it since it came out. I've tried to watch it again but it just bore's me and I put on something else. Maybe I'll try again sometime soon.

Well, making Mickey and Mrs. Loomis the killers was a last minute thing. You're right. The ending leaked and they changed it. I think it's better than the original finale, though. I didn't like the idea of making Derek and Hallie a pair of NATURAL BORN KILLERS-inspired murderers.
Definitely give it another chance, though. Who knows? You might be able to come away digging it.

lol. I had no idea that that happened like that.
I will try it again someday. If only because you suggested it.

The Scream films have never really done "it" for me. I'll admit that I loved the original when it was released, but for some reason it just doesn't hold up for me all that well now. The last time I sat down with intentions to watch it I couldn't get interested. I can't really explain why either.
So, being that I can't sit through the original from beginning to end, I haven't even bothered trying to watch any of the sequels lately. Part 4 is no exception either. I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually, but as of now it isn't terribly important to me...

No interest in seeing this at all. I thought Scream 1 was ok, but very overrated. And I admit it's the first and last Scream I saw.

I'll hop in on this conversation...
I think the first scream is great, i have never seen part 3 but i have seen 1 and 2 numerous times including watching them a few months ago. The original scream keeps me thoroughly entertained throughout the runtime. And the whole party/finale is great. I thought it was so imaginative having the killer stalking behind a kid watching halloween as the classic john carpenter music once again accompanies a fantastic slasher scene. The time delayed video in the house added a great thrill and the very end was completely psychotic.
It's one of those things sort of like a twist ending where it loses its luster over time but the fact does remain that scream is an entertaining film nonetheless.
Scream 2 I felt never really found a rhythm or purpose. It all just seemed to not really matter and was already becoming a retread of the same material. The last bit's location and monologue....it felt very operatic and borderline goofy. Any movie featuring jerry o'connell doing a musical number = FAIL.
Anyway, to the topic at hand. I tried to watch Scream 4, thought the twisted opening bit was pretty cool but already a little tiring. At about the time that the town realizes that shit is going down, which was about 16 - 20 minutes in, I really couldn't take it any more. I just don't really feel all that connected to dewey or the reporter or any character for that matter. And at this point is it really worth my time to invest in another batch of disposable teens? I just didn't vibe with it.

I wasn't able to see SCRE4M in the theather. I really wanted too though sense I seen parts 1-3. I loved part 1 and thought part 2 was very entertaining as well. Part 3 could of been a bit better but I loved Roman as a killer.

Billy and Roman were my favorite killers. They were truly psychopathic. Stu and Mickey were just lackeys who did what they were told. Mrs. Loomis.. yeah that was just jealous rage right there.

Why'd you think it sucked? Not that I'm in disagreement, mind you. But I'm honestly curious.

- I didnt' care of the opening sequence/s.
- I didn't like any of the young characters.
- I hate the idea of a film being an homage to reboots/remakes.....and this one wasn't even subtle about it (Craven pretty much ripped off his own movie).
- I have never liked Neve Campbell.
- The scene where Kirby spewed out the titles of about 25 remakes in the span of 30 seconds was cringe worthy.
- I'm not a fan of Wes Craven in the first place.
- Jill's ex boyfriend served basically no purpse AT ALL.
- The lame ass joke in the cop kill scene was, well, lame.
- The idea of a high school's most popular clique being horror film geeks is pretty much outrageous.
- They had the nerve to show posters for DAWN OF THE DEAD and THE THING.
I just didn't like anything about this movie to be completely honest. I was in no hurry to see it, and I kinda wish I hadn't bothered.

I think the original Scream is probably the only decent film to come out of that whole 90's slasher wave. Not a masterpiece by any means, but it's a fun film, and the self-referential theme was fresh and cool at that point. The second one is terrible, and I don't even remember the third one too well, but don't have especially fond memories.
I'll watch the fourth one at some point, though.

LOL Looks like you have your reasons, that's for sure.
Ya, I feel no need to see this. In fact, fuck the whole Scream series.

I concur.
I could see him living through one film. But after that? He should've already been dead. And I hate the scene in part 3 where he gets hit with the hilt of the knife. For some reason, that irks me beyond belief!

I finally watched this movie and I must say I LOVED it. I am a huge fan of the series. Jill has now become my favorite killer in the series followed my good ole Roman.

Ha, I actually thought that part was pretty funny and was just poking fun at the bajillion horror remakes that have occurred over the recent years.
As for the movies, I really like the original and think the sequel is a pretty worthy installment (keep in mind that I was in high school when the first two movies came out, so some nostalgia may be tied into my feelings). The third one to me fell kind of flat and was my least favorite of the original three (not to mention that Courtney Cox's horrible bangs distracted me every scene she was in ). I liked Roman as the killer, but I thought the whole "I've been orchestrating this from the beginning" thing felt a little too ret-conned.
As for the fourth installment, I just got around to watching it last week and thought it was decent...not as good as the first two, but better than the third one. I think it did a good job of introducing new younger characters while still having the original main characters involved. And not sure if I should post a spoiler warning since the movie has been out for a while now (and those who wanted to see it probably already have) but what the hell: *SPOILERS BELOW*
I thought the reveal of Jill as the killer was a decent twist, but Emma Roberts just didn't fully convince me in the psycho role. She just seemed like a cute girl doing her best to act like a crazed killer, rather than making me think "man, this girl is batshit insane."

Just viewed this last week. Truly thought it wasn't that bad. If not for the 2 kill scenes they fucked up by tryin to make them funny, this was a nice romp.
