That's a steal at that price. I know I would have taken it as well. And some softcore porn to boot. Very nice.

Well, Blockbuster is selling all of their videos. I love how people consider technology obsolete. I was fairly lucky to get this bulk of movies for so damn cheap though, I'll admit. I'm such a lucky guy. Maybe now I'll find Predator 2 that cheap...

I still buy tons of VHS, personally. Most of the time I buy in the range of 50 cents to a couple of bucks, but they're so damned fun to collect. Plus, if you are afraid of the tape getting jacked you can always get yourself a VHS-to-DVD recorder and make your own bootleg DVDS...

Hellraiser box set was my last purchase, just before Mrs Roadkill went into hospital to deliver our son (so I've had plenty of time to watch it). It's the Lament Configuration box, really nice presentation. Whilst the films do gradually deteriorate in quality (the third is like watching horror as realised by MTV. Even more scarily, it turns out that that was pretty much the intention - such a shame that Clive's original idea, to set the story in ancient Egypt wasn't made into a film.) but the picture and sound is good enough, the documentaries are great and on the bonus disc, you get to see Clive's cock!

I don't limit myself to purchasing only DVD. If a film is on DVD, then great I'll buy it to get the best possible quality/version of the film. But if not, I'm happy with another format whether it's VHS or VCD because afterall, I'm not going to let that stop me from watching a film. Of course if I really like the movie, I'll buy the DVD of it if it's released to replace the other format.
I still need to order that hellraiser lament configuration set. I would love to have that sitting beside my Phantasm sphere. Although I care nothing for Hellraiser 3, parts 1 and 2 are two of my most favorite horror films.

I rip all mine onto DVD's... that's why I bought MediaBusters in the first place. I still keep the VHS', but I set them up in my closet in case a DVD breaks or something.

VHS WILL ALWAYS REIGN SUPREME IN THE HORROR GENRE!
Just the look of those ragged ass old boxart, bent corners, showing wear like it was dug out of some old cave where the murders actually ocurred, childhood memories of mom & pop video stores flaunting those tasty horror films, fuck a disc covered in a million damn security devices, boy those piss me off, either way just bought some dvd's
3 extremes anthrophagus: the grim reaper ( have the vhs but it's damn good, and I wanted to see that fetus get eetun. )

Indeed, DVDs are the present vogue, but VHS will always have a place in my heart. Much like korosh1ya, I was introduced to horror through the local video rentals. They had shit for new releases, but damned if they didn't have a plethora of horror films. I discovered the Evil Dead films, Re-Animator, and tons others. And this was before Blockbuster was willing to stock Evil Dead, so this place was the only one in town who had it. To the bush-league haggard-ass local video stores, I salute you!

One set of VHS tapes I'll never trade for DVDs is my collection of Friday the 13th 1-8. As a kid, I was always fascinated with the box art for these. I could stare at them forever. They seemed so taboo. Even now when I look at them, they bring back memories...
