Well it ain,t Hammer etc. But it sure is excellent. Terrence Fisher does it again. For the disadvantaged it concerns a small island that is under seige by strange looking bone suckin creatures christened silicates . Peter Cushing Flies over to help out the Local Doctors try to combat the ever multiplying creatures that are slowly sucking the bone out of every living thing on the island. Its great, I love the sounds the creatures make. And the fact that they move one inch every five minutes ( well maybe not that slow ) and the folks still stand around and get tentacled, even when they are in cars. Great fun, and one of my childhood treasures.

Bless you, Creepy! Another, Island of Terror fan! I think this is easily one of my faves of the horror genre, it's a great cast and there is some definite gruesome audio associated with the bone sucking Silicates! I'd give almost anything to have this come to DVD, I've nearly worn out my pre-record video and the dub I made from my original. This is a weekly watch and when my health really has me down, it's my main comfort film.

I love this film so much (Thanks to HF and Nate (who hates the film)). My favorite scene is when the silicate falls out of the tree.

Excellent film! One of the best Brit Horror's of the 60's. The NTSC tape has the full hand chopping scene that was not originally in the film but was added later. producer Richard Gordon has stated he prefers the film without it. THOUGHTS: http://members.lycos.co.uk/luciosbeard/rvislandofterror.htm

Always a pleasure to hear how much you enjoy the film, Matt....suppose it does raise a little interest to hear my love for the film and Nate's hate of it.....does make one want to check it out and make their own decision, if they haven't seen it, before.
Great review, 42ndStreetFreak.

It's a wonderful, wonderful film, so much entertainment did I receive from this one... Peter Cushing + tentacled bone suckers = a match made in heaven. I want to watch it again now!

HAMMERFANATIC: Cheers. it's been a fave of mine (used to watch it when young with my Mum!!) for many many years but I only recently got the NTSC tape with the hand scene.
It's Sister film "Night of the Big Heat" also with Cushing but with the addition of Chris Lee is also worth a watch, though it's not in the same league.

I actually think Night of the Big Heat is the better film of the two. Still, I wouldn't do without either of them.

If forced to choose, I'd definitely take, Island of Terror, but I do love, Night of the Big Heat, too. It's odd to see both Cushing and Lee more in supportive roles than the headliners. I do enjoy Patrick Allen, he has a great voice!

I've always loved Island Of Terror .It's just great fun to see Peter Cushing running around after those bone sucking monsters .The original Star Trek series had a very similar story concerning some miners and a creature named the Horta .I've always wondered if Island was it's inspiration .

As much as I love Hammer and Amicus, this film still is probably one of if not my all-time favorite classic horror film....it's just that enjoyable for me to watch.

Couldn't agree more, Pad, a wonderful film and one I watch so often, I'm afraid I'm going to wear the disc out.
