Anyone here manage to pick up this mid-eighties giallo for their Euro-collection? Carlo Vanzina's NOTHING UNDERNEATH (1985) stars horror veteran Donald Pleasance as Police Inspector Danesi, who's investigating the murders of several fashion models at the hands of a black gloved scissor weilding killer. There's several typical giallo elements including a selection of red herrings, the black gloves that most of these killers adorned, innovative sequences, and an obvious Argento influence. Donald Pleasance is a little more relaxed than some of his other hammy Italian performances (such as PHANTOM OF DEATH '87) and does what he can with the material. There's a soft Pino Donnagio score and also a funky little disco number on the soundtrack by Karen Young called "Hot For You". The final scene is also quite a shocker. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a suspenseful, sleazy, and seldom scene bit of gialli. Any thoughts on NOTHING UNDERNEATH?

Decent enough flick, though a bit light on skin or bloodshed. I actually saw it for the first time when it was intially released but never got the title (on a pay-per-view satellite station we were stealing), and didn't see it again until about 5 years ago - at which time I was elated to relive those memories and finally have a title to attatch to them! Same thing happened with OBSESSSION: A TASTE FOR FEAR...
There's a semi-sequel for NOTHING UNDERNEATH available named TOO BEAUTIFUL TO DIE, but it was never released in the US.
