Certainly not the worst movie I've seen. I'm not familiar with the games, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I haven't played any of the games either. I agree it not a bad movie, but unfortunately it just fell flat IMO. There was certainly an effort put into it tho. Lots and lots of CGI. The background and stationary efx are pretty good, however alot of the creature animations are lacking. The monster designs are good but they very much look drawn in and unrealistic. Additionally, they rush into the story too quick, then things move pretty slow. Most of the characters are pretty wooden. Its hard to describe exactly how they missed the mark, but the film is missing some personality.

I'm not a fan of the movie but I'm looking forward to the sequel since it will have more Sean Bean.

I rather liked the Silent Hill film. I think a large part of it working for me is that back in the day, (when the original Playstation was the only game in town, pardon the pun) the first Silent Hill game seriously freaked me out quite a bit. Tons of awesome atmosphere, a lot of which they seemed to capture in the film if my memory serves.
I'm definitely be looking forward to the sequel.

This movie had so much promise but just lost the plot. Its like a bad version of John Caroenters In The Mouth Of Madness.

Its a good film and holds up well in my opinion. I think its better than all the Resident Evils put together.

I suppose that's a fair assessment, but RE sets a pretty low bar for comparison.

i dont get it - i loved it. the female cop's acting was awful but beyond that i was in love with the visuals

I gave it another go a few weeks ago. Still bad. Its god awful sequal was just that.
