Watched a documentary called "Global Metal" last week. It's mostly interviews with fans and artists from around the world discussing how Metal is perceived in their societies and what it means to them. It's a pretty decent watch. Here's the trailer...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C8Ybq__3Rg

Ahh, Immortal. That's cool. Where are you going to see them? And welcome to the boards!

Great documentary, from the folks who made another great heavy metal documentary: Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. Another great metal doc is one on the norwegian black metal scene, entitled 'Until The Light Takes Us'.

I've seen "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" and yeah, it's pretty good too. Haven't seen 'Until The Light Takes Us' but I'll have to check it out.
Anyone else seen these docs?

I haven't been to a great metal show in what seems like forever. God, I need to get to a concert real soon. I believe the last one I seen was either Mayhem Fest last year or the BLS/Sevendust/Dope concert.

Love all forms of music but my heart truly belongs to METAL...the last 20 years(I am 34) have been steeped in all forms of extreme(and not so extreme heavy music ..DOOM, SLUDGE, DEATH, GRINDCORE, HARDCORE, CLASSIC ROCK, PROG...but really...fuck all this genre and sub genre carry on...
Some Current(and longtime)listening habits...
Neurosis..BlackCobra...Kylesa...Mastodon...Melvins...Cobalt...Dark Throne...Baroness...Clutch...Black Sabbath...Nachtmystium...Rwake...Big Business...The Secret...Black Mountain...Pantera...Kyuss...Pig Destroyer...Tombs...YOB...Down...Black Flag...Slayer...Isis...Lair of the Minotaur...Opeth...
YAWN!!!!Oh christ...I could go on and on and on...So much great Music turning me on right now(Metal or otherwise)!
Thing about metal fans is...if they were ever true, they tend to remain faithful and obsessive about it their whole lives(i am a case in point)....it is never just a phase(though for many it is of course...just that, a phase). My taste in music has expanded over the years and my mind has opened to many forms of music the twenty year old me would never have accepted(Bands like King Crimson for example!)...but the one constant has always been metal...that warm embrace...I hope to never lose it.
I think Phil Anselmo from Pantera said it best when talking about Metal and Horror Films and how outsiders can never understand..."It's either born in you or it's not"
Simply put but that sums it up for me...I've never been able to articulate it to others...it is what it is.

The Faceless is a great death metal band, saw them with Cannibal Corpse.
Lately I've been listening to alot of Black Metal. Burzum, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Gorgoroth and Mayhem.
