Image Entertainment Acquires Spine-Chilling TV Show "THRILLER" For 2010 Release
Hailed by writer Stephen King as "the best horror series ever to make it to TV."
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Image Entertainment, Inc. announced today that it has acquired the North American rights to the television program Thriller from NBC/Universal. The program ranks with The Twilight Zone as one of the most influential and best-remembered fantastic shows from TV's golden age, and has never been released before on DVD anywhere in the world.
The anthology series was aired from 1960 to 1962 and hosted by horror legend Boris Karloff, famous for such films as Frankenstein and Black Sabbath. Stories featured a wide array of stars including William Shatner, Leslie Nielsen, Mary Tyler Moore, Elizabeth Montgomery, Rip Torn, Richard Chamberlain, Cloris Leachman, Robert Vaughn, John Carradine, Ursula Andress, and many more. These blood-curdling tales were based on the works of several noted horror and mystery writers including Robert Bloch (Psycho) and Edgar Allan Poe.
The entire remastered series will be released next year as a deluxe collector's box set containing all 67 episodes. Extensive special features are currently being developed including numerous illuminating audio commentaries for many of the best-loved episodes along with other never-before-seen extras.
