RIP Charles B Pierce

The guy who made the Boggy Creek movies and The Town that Dreaded Sundown in the 70s/80s passed away on March 5. I watched the latter many years ago and it made a real impression on me, the tranquil postwar atmosphere combined with the creepyness of it. I always wonder about the creepy goings on in those dark corners of the dogwoods and he shared that world with us even more.

Went looking for a copy of Boggy Creek on the web and ended up watching it. Couldn't remember if I had seen this before and truthfully I still can't, although the ending scenes seemed very familiar. Unintentionally funny thru most of the movie. But easy to see how this inspired a bunch of things like those homemade, first person, close encounter shorts, In Search of..., Blair Witch and today's Ghost Hunter and Paranormal Activity. R.I.P. Charles B. Pierce.

Nice post Skull.

Not a BC fan but I still love me some Sundown! Did that ever get released on DVD?

Edgar, i haven't seen Boggy Creek 1 but did see part 2, or was it 3 i don't know but Pierce was in it too!

yes Sundown is one of those that stays with you, i was intrigued by the eerie cover at the videostore ten years ago and had to see this movie and it went up and struck the chord spilling the thick eerie atmosphere.

Guess I'll have to hunt up a copy of Sundown as well.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown is a pretty good movie. I've watched it a few times. I know I've seen Boggy Creek, and I think I enjoyed it. But that was forever ago and I don't really remember much. Pretty sure it double billed with Mysterious Monsters.

RIP Mr Pierce
