I know this upcoming AMC series was posted about earlier, but I can't find it. Just wanted to re-remind people that it's coming down the pike, and offer an update as the start of the series draws nearer.
I am very much looking forward to this. Has the potential to be quite badassed.
Here's the latest. Basically, things are even more concrete at this point and shooting is now official penciled in for May 2010.
Hell yes. http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/02/11/the-walking-dead-pilot-episode-to-begin-shooting-in-may/

Frank Durabont is extremely talented and I fully expect The Walking Dead to be a hit.
I hope it drives the value of my comics through the roof.

You should really his bio page at IMDb. I had no idea about his early childhood. Also, Darabont's first credited gig was NOES 3.

Good luck with that. Haven't dabbled in comics in awhile. But my experience would be any mass-produced, single issue you have that trades for $20 bucks or more, dump it that day if you don't want it. Cause that price is not destined to last over a month tops.
I have around 3,500 comics in storage right now. Have probably spent three times that much in cash. If I sold that collection today for $500 I would probably have taken someone to the cleaners.

I'll read up on Durabont a little later today. I know he's associated with The Mist and Shawshank Redemption, two of the best movies you're likely to ever see.
The first few issues of The Walking Dead were part of a small print run. Issue #1 has been selling for over $100 for 3 or 4 years, so that should only go up with The Walking Dead becomming known to a broader audience. It's essential reading if you dig horror.

Wow, nice. All of my Walking Dead books are TPB. And not any first prints I'm afraid.

I got lucky with The Walking Dead. I had just become interested in collecting comics again after years of being out of the hobby. I was at the comic shop and saw issue #3. Picked that up and started buying it every month after that. I did spend fair market value for issue #1, but I'm not worried about it as an investment. I just really enjoy the series.
By the way, all of my TWD comics are unread and in NM - M condition. I read the first arc via TPB and have read everything else on my PC...
