i did love District9, btw.
I think the last few movies I've actually liked are D9, Nolan films, and mel gibson's directorial shite, casino royale, besides that I haven't been in to anything.
Notice the lack of horror?

I read something a little while ago--linked from IMDb--where it was stated that Halloween 3-D had been shut down. From what I recall, the writer and director of, I think, Friday the 13th (maybe it was My Bloody Valentine--whatever) had a script all written up, and they had begun to do the FX, and then they scrapped it.
Which seems just fine by me. All of these remakes of classic horror movies have seemed like complete and utter shit. I know I'm not alone in that opinion. For them to go from Rob Zombie to these guys whose specialty is horror remakes just strikes me as, well, they obviously just don't give a shit.

In my opinion, they should restart the Halloween franchise again. Yes, again--why not? But give it to a good director, a non-horror movie director, who will not think of it as a horror movie.

I'm sure in a decade or two we will be rebooting all these franchises yet again. I remember watching a documentary on the old Universal Horror movies, and horror from that era. I can't remember the title of the movie, perhaps THAT DARK OLD HOUSE. That had been remade four times in a matter of years.
we'll get there soon enough.

Hell, we're already there. http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/11/27/another-amityville-horror-remake/
I've never been the harshest critic where remakes are concerned, and some of you guys know that. I like to retain a little optimism until I'm given a reason not to, but there has to be a line in the sand somewhere. Seriously, The Amityille Horror....AGAIN?
