I enjoyed District 9 because I went into the theater with absolutely no expectations. I had no idea what the film was about aside from alien refugees were living in South Africa. I was pleasantly surprised at how well done the film was. If they only spent $30-40 million on it, then all that money went into special effects. I guessing it doesn't cost a lot to film in a South African slumtown anyway. The build-up was a little slow but the action packed ending really made up for it I thought. I liked the way the aliens had personalities. You really felt for them just like any other refugees and some weren't that likeable. But like the movie pointed out, humans aren't that likeable sometimes either.

I watched this last night and I loved it.
It's good to see that there are some movies that can still be interesting. I find lately when I watch movies that I'm just going through the motions. With District 9, I was throughly entertained.

Finally saw this about 2 weeks ago. Thought it was fairly well done, and I actually found it very sad throughout. I felt really bad for the aliens.
SPOILER Even though they made it to the ship, the movie lacked that truly satisfying redemption/revenge moment. At least I thought so. Even though the ending was technically a happy one, it still left me feeling sad.

I think they are purposely saving that for the sequel. I don't know if it's been officially announced, but $30M sci-fi blockbuster = you know it's coming.
