My mangled copy of The Wolf's Hour came in the mail this morning, EA. I've been reading it almost nonstop for the last 3 hours. I'm gonna have to stop, or else I'll be finished with it by this evening.

When I finish The Wolf's Hour I'm going to move onto Mine, which is waiting in my computer's media library.

I think I'm going to read every novel McCammon has written...

I haven't had any clients in over a month (thanks economy), so I've been reading like a mad man. After finishing The Wolf's Hour, I moved on to McCammon's thriller MINE. I'll definitely be reading more of McCammon's work in the future, and I really don't understand why there are no movies based on the guy's work.

I'm currently on a Lovecraft kick. I've finished The Call Of Cthulu, The Thing On The Doorstep, Herbert West: Re-Animator, The Shadow Out Of Time and The Shadow Over Innsmouth. Tonight I'll be moving on to The Colour Out Of Space.

Man, Lovecraft was a genius. I've loved every one of the stories equally so far, and I can't wait to get my hands on At The Mountains Of Madness and The Rats In The Walls...

Lately I've been reading my old back issues of Famous Monsters of Filmland but tonight I started re- reading "IT". I figure since it's getting another incarnation on film, I should read it again just so I'll be able to compare them.

I just finished Stephen King's Duma Key.

The story, while not bad, lags on for an extremely long time before getting into anything remotely horror related. Even so, it's well written and worth the time...

I've just started Stinger by McCammon, so far it's excellent.

Finished Stinger earlier this week. It's pure cheesy goodness. Essentially this is an alien visitation story. Originally published in 88, some of the story ideas are straight out of 80's sci-fi movies and TV. The setting is nowhere, west Texas. For me the book conjured up lots of images from films like Critters, Tremors, Feast, Eight Legged Freaks and the like. It has a great cast of characters, and McCammon's version of this dirt water town on the brink of collapse (before any alien shows up) sucks you right into the story. And unlike McCammon's Swan Song which is a very depressing and bleak story, this one is fun and fast paced (even at over 500 pages) and doesn't take itself nearly as seriously (even though it's written straight and not comical).

Stinger will be the next McCammon novel that I tackle. I kind of slowed down on his stuff, because I didn't want to burn myself out.

You should look into Scott Sigler's Infected and it's follow up, Contagious, EA. It's a fun story with some truly over the top moments. I think you'll love it...

Started in on Stinger earlier tonight, and I'm enjoying it. They Thirst is next.

I'm going to start collecting hard covers of McCammon's work. I think he's my favorite at this point.

I'm still enjoying Scott Sigler's work too. I finished Infected, Contagious, Earth Core, Ancestor and The Rookie in the past 2 months or so, and I liked them all. Some of you guys really need to check his stuff out. I don't think you'll be disappointed...

You might find that a bit difficult in some cases, alot of his works were released directly to paperback. Boy's Life and Gone South, as well as his new (non-horror?) series are probably in hardback though. Borders had a TPB of Gone South for $4 last night.

Yeah, some of his stuff looks interesting. I'm not buying anything right now, but looks like there's a couple of free podcast shorts available and maybe Infected is at the library.

Hmm, I didn't think the McCammon hardcovers would be a big deal. Maybe I'll just pick up stuff like Swan Song and The Wolf's Hour.

Pretty much all of Scott Sigler's work is available in podcast form. The audio stuff helps me relax and get to sleep (insomnia is a bitch), but I could easily see lots of people disliking audio books. Most of Sigler's podcasts run between 20 and 40 minutes, so it's really easy to pick up and leave off at random. I'd start with Infected, EA, and then I'd move on to Contagious. If you think Stinger is pure sci-fi cheese, you'll love those stories...

I just finished McCammon's Stinger. It's a good read. Did this guy write a bad book?

Just checked out The Vanishing by Bentley Little and the podcast of Contagious by Scott Sigler.
