So I got my xbox 360 back today, and alas I ran out of pot today as well, what the fuck does a brotha gotta do to catch a feckin' break???
It seems to be working fine so far, Added another xbox live free card to my dust collecting collection of them, the weird thing is, this time they sent me like the power brick, and cables.
My brick, and cables are fine, and they've never sent cables with a system before. I'm going to see if gamestop will buy my old cables, so werd life I guess...

Okay, I'm an idiot. This thread (among other things) scared me off from buying a 360. But then the price cut happened and the core model (aka Arcade) went down to $199.99. I would much rather have a PS3, but the fact that I could get the 360 for $200 cheaper was too good to pass up. So I went to GameStop this afternoon and bought myself an Xbox 360. I had a lot of stuff going on today, so I didn't get a chance to hook it up until just a little while ago. And what do you know, the thing is giving me the Red Ring of Death directly out of the box. It won't even turn on. So I'm going back to GameStop tomorrow and will pretty much demand that I either get my money back or they let me exchange it towards a PS3 (yes, I will spend the extra $200 just to spite Microsoft). I'm sure that they'll only let me exchange it for another 360, but I'm fucking pissed. Well, guess I only have myself to blame.

Just kidding man. If you return it today they'll probably give you a full refund. If not you'll call xbox customer service and go through the funeral progression I myself have went through on 4 (count them) FOUR seperate occasions.
I honestly don't see how Microsoft gets away with selling such a crappy product.

Haha, I know. Like I said, I only have myself to blame. Really, the $200 price tag is what suckered me into it.
But just as an update, I did take the system back and got a PS3. Things actually worked out well, because I work at Barnes & Noble part-time, which means I get a 15% discount at GameStop on everything except new hardware (there's some weird connection between Barnes & Noble and GameStop that allows their employees to get discounts at both). So I bought a used PS3 for $350, but was able to save a whopping $52 on it from my employee discount, so I basically got a PS3 for $300.
Oh yeah, and the guy who helped me at GameStop said I was making the right move by ditching the 360 and getting a PS3.

PS3 is better than 360? I can't agree with that. Consoles are only as strong as their line up of games IMO, and PS3's library at the moment ain't too impressive.
Sure, the PS3 works properly, but it isn't without flaws.
1. The controllers are CHEAP.
2. There are barely any quality first party games.
3. It's still expensive as hell even though it's been around for quite a while.
Sure, the 360 is apt to hardware failure, but IMO it's still better than the PS3. Maybe I'll change my mind once the PS3 starts getting some awesome games, but after two years it's yet to happen. I'm starting to question if it ever will...

Yea, 360 is a much better platform than PS3, even with the breakage the PS3 makes me more ill on Sony's tactics.
I am just frustrated that Microsoft has let the RROD issue go on for this long, they had a clear victory over Sony and they are truly blowing it by not getting it resolved and behind them for good.

Well, I think the guy at GameStop said I was making the right choice by getting the PS3 purely based on how much the 360 malfunctions. He told me that every person he knows who owns a 360 has had to send it in at some point to get repaired. Really, Microsoft just left a bad taste in my mouth, after all of the horror stories I've heard, I buy a 360 and it malfunctions straight out of the box. That pretty much made me not want to buy a Microsoft platform ever again.
I'll agree that the 360 has a better selection of games than the PS3 right now, but I'm not going to be buying a ton of games for it. I mainly bought the PS3 (and originally the 360) for a few upcoming games like Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV. I own a Wii and most of my game purchases are for that system. Though with that said, I did buy a copy of Oblivion for the PS3 and have been enjoying it immensely.
The only 360 exclusive that I really wanted to play was the new Banjo-Kazooie (I loved the first two on the N64), so I'm a little bummed I won't get to play that.

Remember that BK is a RARE title, in other words what once was good shall never be again it seems.. it's not even going to resemble the previous games, it's more a sandbox of putting stuff together and playing around with it.
360 I feel has a lot better exclusives than PS3, but for me, most of them are on PC no I pay it no mind.

It's worth it, awesome must haves like Left 4 Dead will be on 360 as well.. but I'm thinking it has like 5 scenarios.. you are going to play them and in about 2 months the game will be old news.. on PC we should see about 100 custom scenarios for download within the first month of release.. that is the kind of thing that keeps me there.. a game can stay fresh and enjoyable for years..
And Crysis warhead.. the game just rocks..
