Well, I don't know what to make of this, as it will surely be far from what I love about Hammer, but their (at least in name) first new film has a trailer up. They also have a more extensive trailer up on MySpace.

Interesting marketing campaign. I have heard rumors for a long time of Hammer's return to filmmaking. I didn't expect their first release to be straight to MySpace??? However, this type of thing could work to their advantage. Give them the opportunity to get their name back out there in circulation and reintroduce themselves to a younger audience. Plus the trailer looks interesting, I will certainly give this a go.

They released the trailer to MySpace, not the actual viewing of the film.

This from Hammer's homepage....
Beyond the Rave will be released as a 20 part serial exclusively through social networking site myspace, and was produced by Hammer and Pure Grass Films.

I don't know much of anything about Hammer films, but if this is going to be a serial I'm definitely going to check it out. I think it looks pretty damn good...

I've watched the first three episodes. I'd give those a C+. Nothing earth shattering or incredibly original, but it does have the same vibe as some of Hammer's later offerings. It's not a gorefest (so far) but there have been a couple of interesting blood scenes. I think I've already have the ending figured out. Still, I will probably finish watching the whole thing. About half of the episodes have been posted on Myspace so far. I had to open an account before getting to watch them. There's an option to view these in full screen HD. Low-res versions are being bootlegged over to YouTube as well.

Still suffering with dial-up, I can't really check any of this out, but we may be getting high-speed Internet in a couple of weeks....then I will check this out. Thanks for the link, Scorpio.
