Thumbs up for this video biography released in 2002. It includes an interview with JC himself that gets a decent amount of screentime. Most of the movie splits it's time between JC's motivations for film making and some of his techniques and how he developed them. Even though I'm a fan I still discovered a few surprises. I was especially interested in his years at USC film school and some of the friends/co-workers who took classes with him (incl. Dan O'Bannon of ALIEN and RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD fame). I would have liked to have seen the biography extended by 30-60 minutes to allow for a more complete review of his films. As it was the majority of this movie focuses on his early career (DARK STAR, ASSAULT, HALLOWEEN, THE FOG). They do manage to at least touch on a majority of his latter films, although I'm not sure that BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA or INVISIBLE MAN are even mentioned. Still, it's well worth checking out if you enjoy JC cinema.
