Its official. Anchor Bay is releasing new editions of El Topo and The Holy Mountain and Fando and Lis either individually or in a box set. The new editions are to quote the announcement, from new HD transfers in anamorphic widescreen video, with Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 audio (El Topo is 125 minutes in Spanish, The Holy Mountain is 114 minutes in English, Fando Y Lis is 93 minutes in Spanish). The box set also has two soundtrack CD’s one of El Topo and the other Holy Mountain plus a extra disc with Jodorowsky’s first film which is a short plus a bunch of other extras. The DVD’s of the films contain audio commentaries with Jodorowsky and other extras. The box set is called The Films of Alejandro Jodorowsky and has a release date of May first with a MSRP of $49.98 which will probably mean that you could find it for less.

Wonderful!!!!!!!!! And about damn time too. I remember rumors about proper domestic Jodo DVD releases dating back all the way to when I was in film school. Can't wait to get the box set...

Cool! I haven't had the chance to see the El Topo movies, only Jodorowsky movie I've seen is the R-rated version of Santa Sangre, which was great but you could tell it was cut.

Yep, beautiful new for all who haven't seen the films. El Top and Holy Mountain are among my favorite films, ever made.

I have watched El Topo twice since I ordered it. Hmmmm, what can I say? Its everything that you have heard. But... Something I wasn't prepared for... Something I hadn't heard... Its also downright silly and absurd. I guess my impression was this was a serious piece of work, a total mind fuck with a message. Well, it is a mind fuck, and it does have a message, but I found myself disappointed. Now, with a grain of salt, I did not watch it in the same frame of consciousness that was enjoyed when folks lined the block around the theater to see this film (no weed or magic mushrooms).
Must see? Yes! Must own? Not really...

I've seen el topo a LONG time as well MOJO and had some odd feelings, since it was a bit hard to get through sober. but for some reason now that it's been a while there's something that makes me want to revisit it, and wouldn't mind adding it to the ole' collection.
I mean, it's probably better than ghost rider? :-P
