Is Plague Of The Zombies a Hammer film? I used to have it on VHS a long time ago and really liked it, but I've never come across a dvd version...

Yes, Plague of the Zombies is indeed a Hammer film. It was released on DVD by Anchor Bay, several years back and may have been re-released as part of a Hammer double-feature, but think they may be OOP, now? Not sure on that, but definitely worth getting on DVD, if you can.

The VHS version of Plague Of The Zombies that I had was an Anchor Bay release in a clam shell case. I had similar releases of The Beyond, Zombie and Hell Night. I say similar, but they were actually identical. They were probably the nicest VHS tapes I ever had. The picture quality was almost as good as DVD. Anchor Bay used to release quality stuff...

I remember those clamshell case VHS, I had them all (Hammer) at one time and they were very nice looking. I remember back in the Autumn of '97, I made my poor youngest brother drive to another state with me, JUST so I could pick up, The Lost Continent!

The story involving your brother sounds like something I would've done way back when. I remember when collecting films made me happy. Nowadays everything's right at your fingertips, and the hobby has lost quite a bit of flavor. I remember when people would come to my house, and they were amazed by my film collection. You just don't see things like that anymore. In a way it's good that almost everything is so readily available, but for some reason I miss the old days of collecting films. It was always nice to chase down a movie that you'd been looking for forever. For example, I searched far and wide for the original Pioneer DVD release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre years ago, but now you can buy one of the countless re-issues for $7.00 at pretty much any Wal-Mart...
