I don't think Texas Chainsaw Massacre falls under the same category with Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox and the rest...

id have to agree. though it contains cannibalism, i dont think TCM is a cannibal film, per se. my understanding is that cannibal films revolve around primitve natives. also, the genre is really exclusively an italian genre. doesnt mean there cant be american cannibal films. jus sayin.

You cannot forget Cannibal Apocalypse!!! Anything with John Saxon automatically moves high on my list; the man can do no wrong...even Blood Beach. As far as JUNGLE films, Ferox is the most entertaining for me; it has more of the comic book feel that I dig...plus John Morghen!!

Its always seemed like a no brainer to me. Cannibal Holocaust is the best...A movie that just scares you for so many reasons. Dangerous film making.
However Cannibal Ferox is about as an enjoyable Euro trash movie I've ever seen.
I can count on my fingers and toes how many Cannibal movies I've seen. Thats not alot by genre standards.

I'm reading a so-so book called Eaten Alive: Italian Cannibal and Zombie movies by Jay Slater. It covers most every Italian film I can think of in these two sub-genres, even fringe movies like Massacre in Dinosaur Valley. Some of the essays are long and uninteresting, but I dig having this as a reference book. I got it from Amazon in case anyone wants to pick it up.

Don't worry I bought that weekend on DD... Just one I always used to want to buy but never got around to it. Island of Death was another film like that.
