Has anyone read the novel, A Taste of Honey by H F Heard, on which the film, The Deadly Bees is based? I'd like to get my hands on it, but I'd imagine it's long OOP. I read the Dennis Wheatley novel, Uncharted Seas on which, The Lost Continent was based and let's just say, they bear little resemblance to each other....I'm just wondering if, A Taste of Honey is totally different from the film.

Is Deadly Bees a Hammer film? I'm not familiar with that one. Sounds good...
Also, what was your impression of the Wheatley novel? Would you reccomend it? Could you share a couple of ways that it differs from the film? I've heard that Wheatley was the UK Stephen King of his time. Hugely, Immensley popular. But that his novels are so steeped in British vernacular, that they never caught on on this side of the Atlantic.

vodkaniac, The Deadly Bees is an Amicus film and it really is more of a fun film probably than a good film, but the two tend to blend as one in my way of thinking.
Well, the ship/much of the crew in, Uncharted Seas was Swedish in Wheatley's story and it's quite different from the film, in fact, there are few resemblances between the two. I mean, if you have seen, The Lost Continent, you can certainly pick up passages from the book, but they really seem very different. Obviously more detail can be given about the passengers as well as the beasties they encounter. You're quite correct, the venacular is very British/European and thus may turn some potential readers off, but it's not that difficult to follow or read.
If you're a fan of the film, then I'd more than recommend the book. I'd like to read more of Wheatley's books, but eBay seems to be one of the main opportunities to read his works and quite often, the auctions go much higher than I'd expect!
