Have you noticed that your smokes taste horrible lately or that they won't stay lit? Take a look at the UPC on your pack. Do you notice the letters FSC above the UPC? That stands for Fire Safety Comission. Well, you can thank big tobacco for that. It seems as if the new FSC cigarettes are made to prevent fires, but I think they're made to snuff out for a different reason. Once a cigarette burns out it is disgusting, any smoker can tell you that. Cigarette makers want you to smoke more. It's obvious, why would they design them to burn out in 10 seconds if they don't want you to smoke more of them. Here's what to do about the problem. 1. Stop smoking. It's bad for your health anyway. 2. Start bitching about the problem. There are a hell of a lot of smokers out there. 3. Switch brands. If the FSC cigarette makers start losing customers because of the problem they will revert back to an older formula. I bought a carton of Marlboros two days ago and I can't smoke them because they taste horrible. It is a filthy/expensive habit, but it was my only filthy expensive habit and I truly enjoyed it. I haven't had a cigarette in 24 hours, and I'll not have another until these FSC smokes are discontinued... |

I thought this was going to be a weed thread. Don't smoke cigarettes, but the weed still tastes fine! t |

Quote: I know, I thought the same, I mean a "SMOKERS UNITE" thread on the national pot holiday of the year made me think that's what this thread was about. I just got back from a showing of the movie SUPER HIGH ME, it's like the movie SUPER SIZE ME except instead of eating mcdonalds, the comedian Doug Benson smokes weed for 30 days. It was pretty entertaining but I would have liked more interviews on medical marijuana and some arguments from those against marijuana. It was an interesting movie non the less. Have a happy 4/20! |

A friend of mine went on a rant about the FSC cigarettes the other night, and I thought it would be funny to post about it for 420 and see what kind of responses I'd get... |

LOL! From what I gather from the responses, we've just uncovered a link between the love of horror movies, and marijuana. interesting. I want to see the doc. the other fellow was posting about, sounds like it could be interesting, depending on the source material, and what it's going for, we need a more positive, adult, reflection of the gangja in the US. 4/20 rocked, all day smoke-a-thon, pizza, and UFC 79, Liddell vs. Silva, St. Pierre vs. Hughes. Now let's get back on the love of our life topics, lol. |

what about a 4th choice? just living with it i have only seen the FCS cigarettes in NYC, and it seems to me that when you compare the minor inconvenience of re-lighting your ciggie vs. burning down a building from a cig that wasnt put out correctly... im sure you can live with it. also are you really smoking for the flavor? its not ice cream |

1. People do smoke specific brands based solely on flavor. 2. The FSC cigarettes are being sold all over the country. 3. If you would've read the other posts you may have noticed that the entire thing was a joke. 4. My favorite ice cream is Blueberry Waffle Cone. Thank you, and have a beautiful day... |

im a smoker too but if camels disappeared altogether its not like i would quit. i dislike ice cream and due to the restrictions of the internetz, you would of noticed that i was being snide apparently in an opposite of funny way. |

@ sleepinsafety: Make no mistake about it, I fully understand that your post was intended to be snide. Unfortunately I don't come here to argue with people, so I'm sorry if that's what you intend to do. I made an attempt to lighten the mood, and decided to pick at you a bit because of your sarcastic comments, but I see the error in that decision now. I thought maybe you'd find it a little funny, but obviously it didn't work. I'll take full responsibility for that, and I'll make a solid attempt to avoid you completely in the future. Have a fantastic day... |

I quit smoking over a year ago but the restrictions on smoking still make me mad, especially being from MA. It was bad when they banned smoking from PRIVATELY owned businesses, but now they're cracking down on PRIVATELY OWNED CLUBS too. Fucking pathetic. Make it illegal or get the fuck off our backs. |

Here in WV you can't smoke in any bar or club "whatever" unless it's sales are made up of more than 80% alcohol. |

I like to smoke cigars occasionally (Cubans, which are legal here), weed occasionally, hooka occasionally and pipe occasionally, pretty much everything except yucky pointless cigarettes (which I still think should be legal in privately owned estasblishments, just not publically owned ones)....... so really, where do I fit? Anyways, merry christmas all! |

Once in a great while I get to enjoy a cigar, maybe three or four in a good year. Not an expert by any stretch, but I actually prefer my smokes from the Dominican Republic over Cuba or anything else. Just a flavor preference really. Aside from that I do not smoke. I have had cigarettes a few times while drinking heavily, but I do not drink heavily anymore, as I can no longer endure the price of the hangover. Believe me they get worse as you get older. |

A good cigar is priceless ! I am an on and off again cigar smoker. It has to do with being willing to afford a good $14 cigar evry now and again. The good ones cost that much and more. But when I start I have a passion for it. I bought myself a $60 xICAR cutter and an $80 Colibri lighter last year and when I'm in the mood to light up, I bring my tools out baby. |

I haven't researched this yet, but one of my *smarter friends* said that even though many tribal people in the world smoke on a regular basis they still live well into their 90's with no health problems due to the habit. He claims it's because the tobacco they smoke is unprocessed with no additives. I'm not sure I really buy that but thought I would ask if anyone else has heard similar hypothesis. |
I'd say there's some truth to it EA. If there's less chemicals, preservatives or additives then the tobacco in question is pretty much organic. I'm sure it's not 100% safe, but it has to be safer than tobacco that's been pumped full of every chemical known to man. The tar that's added to tobacco is probably the worst aspect of the habit, so if the tobacco these tribal people are smoking has no tar it has to be safer than tobacco as we know it. Better for you? Yes, quite possibly. 100% safe? I would think not... |

In Cuba, where my family is from, my uncle once told me that the docotors there would actually reccomend smoking cigars. They would tell a patient:"Go home and smoke a cigar everyday after work and relax, you'll be ok." Well I'm just relating what my uncle told me. I guess they did things different in the past, didn't know any better. My dad used to smoke and got lip cancer...so there ya go. |
