Isn't this a clone of the stickied thread "13 best slashers of all time"?

I would think so. But, hasn't that topic been closed or locked for 3 or more years now?

I would like to add HATCHET to the list. I know its a new film that was only released in 2007, but the film was excellent. It borrows some the best elements from classic slasher films but adds a modern day edge to the film. I saw the unrated version like two weeks ago, and was bugging out about how good it was. Especially since that Halloween remake sucked. I think I found a couple a scenes or a scene and the trailer. here are the links:

Hatchet was an instant classic, it has some of the best scenes EVER in a slasher movie. If it weren't for netflix I'd be lost...

I think William Lustig's Maniac deserves a place on that list as well. In a decade that saw masked killers hacking down teenagers, getting killed and being ressurected umpteen times, Lustig brought the slasher genre into the real world, and offered one of the screen's most realistic movie killers.

Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon was an instant classic too. It's one of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time. I'm looking forward to a sequel, but I'll be surprised if we get one. SPOILERS AHEAD!!! If you've watched the film and think a sequel is impossible, you need to go back and watch the credits roll...

Yeah, we'll probably see a direct-to-video sequel at some point. But Leslie Vernon was a great and clever deconstruction of the whole slasher genre. Plus his mask was creepy as all hell.
