I am amazed...
|
|
...absolutely amazed that HammerFanatic is still here, still doing this same thing, year after year after year. Good golly Jesus, how many times must you have discussed the same movies over and over. You deserve some sort of award for your relentless, untiring devotion--you really do.

HF is one of my all-time favorite people on the boards. Maybe my favorite. Her supreme combination of knowledge, love for the genre and approachable kindness has led her to the very top of respected posters. The fact that we've been given this much time with her is a blessing.
I remember back in 2000, when I was a snot nosed 17 year old, I hung on every word she had to say about films. She always made me very comfortable and I thus enjoyed my posting experience all the more for it.
Plus, she's a fellow Kaiju fan, so that always helps.

HF is indeed wonderful, and a valued member of the boards.

I am even further amazed that this thread is still so near the top after all this time. And also that HF hasn't commented. Alas. Alas, I say!

HF rules. Where is she?

Re: I am amazed...

Perhaps her collection of Hammer films toppled over on top of her, and she is now subsisting on--- wait I shouldn't say that. Maybe something has actually happened. I hope she's okay.

Still waiting to hear from HF. Anyone know anything?

I sent CT a PM. I don't know if CT is even around at all. Maybe he wouldn't know anything anyway.
It seems very strange to me that HF would suddenly vanish like this. She's been here for what seems like forever.
I actually sent her something in the mail several years ago, but my memory isn't good enough to recall anything about the name or address.
Hopefully she drops in, even just to say she's done with this whole thing or whatever.

I searched around but came up empty. All my addresses are out of date sadly. I have a few more people to ask but I fear this absense may be health related. Let's hope not!!

I've sent her a few PMs myself seeing if she was ok. I've yet to hear back. Now I'm all worried...

Frankly, I'm amazed that ANY of you guys, let alone this board, is still up and running. I don't visit this place often anymore (I used to post here every day for a few years) as posting had gone way down and was unfortunately forced to go elsewhere to fill my addiction but this place has outlived all of the boards I ever cared to join. That's pretty cool! Who else hear has grey in their hair that they didn't when they joined?

Well, errr.... unfortunately. And that's a hell of a way to ruin someone's day.

No grey here yet, but I've been around here for a good 8-9 years in three incarnations of this board! I had Kimi's regular e-mail address, but I fear her last message to me was not recent and may have been archived somewhere. She had been battling health issues for the past several years and I really hope that she is okay. It was her and I always talking about Hammer that satrted this sub-forum on the old board.

Well, my join date at this present board says '99. But whatever. The point of this thread was to discover what has become of HF. Or perhaps that wasn't the point to begin with, but it has become that. I've a bad feeling about this, but I'd appreciate some information from folks closer to her.

I just think... I don't know. Others fade away, but HF has always been diligent here. I hate to think that she is no longer with us, but at the same time I can't help but think that's precisely the case.

Re: I am amazed...

Thanks very much for the concern, guys....sorry to put anyone through that, but great to have folks worried. It's odd, I just joined that Care2 group because a friend of mine, who sadly, passed away from cancer, in January, sent me an invite. I was thrilled when eddie made contact.
My health issues have caused a lot of problems, lately, plus, last year in August, my Dad purchased a house and asked us to move in and share expenses, so we moved and that took a lot out of me.....packing, unpacking and trying to settle a home. Of course, the move meant a new E-mail address and it appeared I was losing touch with more and more people from the Internet, but thanks to SL and eddie, I was located.
My love for Hammer films has never waivered....I adore their films and I'm quite happy to say, classic horror films in general, are among my very faves. I have expanded my viewing habits a bit more and thankfully, DVDs are still one of my main sources of entertainment.
I will try and do much better, now that I've been brought back into the fold. I never left because of a dispute or boredom, I think my health and the move simply overwhelmed me and I needed time to sit back and gather my thoughts and desire to post on a regular basis, again.
Again, I apologize for the loss of posting time and for appearing to disappear from the face of the earth, but it's nice knowing some of you out there did miss our posting together and I hope we can begin this, again!

Is Plague Of The Zombies a Hammer film? I used to have it on VHS a long time ago and really liked it, but I've never come across a dvd version...
|
|
|
Re: I am amazed...
|
|
Yes, Plague of the Zombies is indeed a Hammer film. It was released on DVD by Anchor Bay, several years back and may have been re-released as part of a Hammer double-feature, but think they may be OOP, now? Not sure on that, but definitely worth getting on DVD, if you can.

Re: I am amazed...

The VHS version of Plague Of The Zombies that I had was an Anchor Bay release in a clam shell case. I had similar releases of The Beyond, Zombie and Hell Night. I say similar, but they were actually identical. They were probably the nicest VHS tapes I ever had. The picture quality was almost as good as DVD. Anchor Bay used to release quality stuff...

Re: I am amazed...

I remember those clamshell case VHS, I had them all (Hammer) at one time and they were very nice looking. I remember back in the Autumn of '97, I made my poor youngest brother drive to another state with me, JUST so I could pick up, The Lost Continent!

Re: I am amazed...

The story involving your brother sounds like something I would've done way back when. I remember when collecting films made me happy. Nowadays everything's right at your fingertips, and the hobby has lost quite a bit of flavor. I remember when people would come to my house, and they were amazed by my film collection. You just don't see things like that anymore. In a way it's good that almost everything is so readily available, but for some reason I miss the old days of collecting films. It was always nice to chase down a movie that you'd been looking for forever. For example, I searched far and wide for the original Pioneer DVD release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre years ago, but now you can buy one of the countless re-issues for $7.00 at pretty much any Wal-Mart...

You guys have to check this out. You can put a picture of you or your friends in a scene of your favorite horror movie. It's pretty funny to watch yourself running around haha. Check it out and let me know what you think.
