I've been told "time and time again" that euro is an acquired taste. I've just never acquired it yet. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of american horror movies that I think are terrible too. I don't like horror for horror's sake, I like horror that suits my personality...

I disagree. "Eurohorror" is a good blanket term to describe horror movies from Europe but when you start referring to it (Eurohorror) as something like "an acquired taste" then you've lost me because Europe, like other continents, produces many different horror movies of varying quality, style, theme, and story. Take Italy for example, they were probably the biggest and best producer of "Eurohorror" back in the 70's and 80's and even those titles vary from one another greatly. You really can't compare a movie like Zombie to Tenebre as they are really nothing alike (of course if you think they suck then I guess they would both be categorized under "movies that suck"), the only thing they really have in common are their country of origin and genre. Still, I do use this blanket term sometimes as it is fitting in many, but certainly not all, respects. (Didn't mean to stray so far off topic but I kinda rolled my eyes when I saw your friends pretentious quote. ) Assuming you don't mind subtitles I'm sure you'll find plenty of horror movies from countries/continents that you like and just as many from each country/continent for the shitlist.

As for DD, I like it better with every viewing. Years ago when I saw this movie for the first time I thought it was just ok but back then I watched a lot of movies simply for the fact that I thought they might have a lot of gore. As I get older I find that I'm starting to "soften up" a bit in that I'm starting to appreciate humor in horror movies. During my last viewing I laughed a few times, I don't remember finding anything funny enough to laugh at on the first 2 viewings and I was watching the same subbed DVD all 3 times. It wasn't the humor that made me like this one this time, it was just an added bonus.
