I guess that's where I differ from most of you guys. I am "apparently" never in the mood for euro horror. Everyone used to tell me how good Zombie, The Beyond and The Gates Of Hell were so I rushed out and bought them and I'd say they are easily 3 of the 10 worst horror movies I've ever watched. I could say the same thing about The Blind Dead films. The only foreign movie that comes to mind that I actually like is Shaun Of The Dead. I just don't get the whole Italian or Euro thing I guess. Maybe it's just me? I've seen Zombie, Zombie 3, The Beyond, The Gates Of Hell, Suspiria, Tenebre, The Blind Dead movies, Hellraiser, Haute Tension and now Cemetary Man/Dellamorte Dellamore among many others and I honestly think that they are all terrible. I don't want them to be terible, I would stop watching them altogether if that was the case, it just seems I'm not cut out for the euro thing. I just don't see the artistry you guys see. I can see the creepy atmosphere of a lot of them, I actually put Zombie in my top 10 zombie films for it's setting and atmosphere alone. Maybe in time my views on the subject will change, who knows? I've been told "time and time again" that euro is an acquired taste. I've just never acquired it yet. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of american horror movies that I think are terrible too. I don't like horror for horror's sake, I like horror that suits my personality... |
