********** This post will contain spoilers ********** I really dug the movie, except for the retarded "twist" at the end, where it turns out the short haired blonde chick from Around the World in 80 Days was actually Tyler Durden all along. I remember when watching the movie, me and my viewing companions at some point started to guess what twist they would throw at the end (since movies like these always have a twist at the end). One of them jokingly said "I bet we'll learn that the blonde chick was actually the killer all along and just halucinated being chased by him", and we all had a good laugh. After all, it was a pretty clever joke, poking fun at the wave of movies that copied Fight Club's ending in recent years. But when my friend's joke turned out to be an accurate prediction, well the laughter pretty much stopped right there I tells you what!! Save for the crappy, incredibly unoriginal "twist", the rest of the flick was really neat, packed with good acting, serious tension and suspense, a truly kickass and menacing vilain, and beautiful gore FX from Gianetto "The Man" DeRossi (he's still got it, baby!). Also, I liked all those old songs that used to be on the radio all the time when I was a kid, but that I haden't heard in years. I guess they were popular in France just like they were popular here. |
