Who here is a fan? I'll wait to hear back before I go off and potantially waist my time.
I can;t get enough of the Anderson Silva/Rich Franklin championship fights. I like Rich Franklin BUT...Anderson really sticks it to him! How the fuck does a Muy Tai Clench work exactly? It looks so elementary but the result really speaks for itself...especially if you can keep the fight off the ground and you have boney knees and long legs.
I hear Silva rated the best pound for pound MMA fighter now. I suppose I can agree with that.

I enjoy the UFC. I hated to see Frank Mir tap out Brock Lesnar. I think Brock will dominate once he trains a little more. He's a beast...

I'm a pretty fanatical fan of MMA in general (and of pretty much any form of full-contact martial arts and fighting sports), from the UFC to all the smaller orgs : M1 Global, Strike Force, Bodog, IFL, the defunct Pride may it R.I.P., etc., and of course the local org named TKO (formerly UCC) which gave the world fighters such as GSP, David Loiseau and Patrick Côté (I've been to all the events held at the Bell Center so far... which is where there's also supposed to be the first UFC on Canadian soil next April, but unfortunately that'll be a tad too expensive for me, unless I get crappy seats very far from the cage which would be pointless).
Anderson Silva is indeed pretty awesome. Very slick, powerful and accurate striker, good takedown defense, and far from helpless on the ground. Those Franklin bouts were brutal as hell (have you seen his nose after the 1st fight!!!), but I especially loved seeing Silva beat the crap out of Chris Leben (back when the average UFC fan didn't know what he was capable of and didn't give him much of a chance).
I do think that my fellow Montréaler GSP would currently be rated no.1 pound-for-pound if Matt Serra hadn't gotten lucky (there's something to be said for making guys like Matt Hughes and Josh Koscheck look like amateurs  ). Tho I admit my bias on that one

Did you guys see the Kimbo Slice/Tank Abbot fight? It was ridiculous. Kimbo Slice is NOT human. I know Tank is fat and old but damn...

Yeah that would do it heh. You have to be dedicated no doubt. The sport has always been interesting but the competition has risen to new heights in the past years. I've been watching UFC wired and Unleashed alot and they've been getting me pumped about a few guys, namely Huston Alexander, Cheik Kongo(spelling?) and many others with knock out power. They make the sport more interesting, The greats really have to respect heavy hands just like when the ground game exploded some years ago and caught a bunch of the early brawlers off guard. I also rewatched the rematch with Silva and Fanklin. Though Silva "fucked" Franklin's face up the first fight, the rematch was even more scary because the fact Franklin actually had an idea of Silva's game(first hand) and Silva's combo's where some of the best I've ever seen. All four of his limbs where making solid contact one after another in the second round leading to a decisive knock out. Brutal AND technical. I like Rich Franklin...but I don;t know if I'd ever fight Silva again. It remains to be seen how long Silva keeps this up because I've been blinded by spurts of greatness before and I don't believe anyone is unbeatable. However...the guy is just awesome. when Franklin had him on the ground He could not land anything on him because of the positioning and length of his legs. His guard is great as far as I've seen. His Sprawl is up there with Liddle's. I'm torn really on if his next loss will be on the ground or by knockout(maybe decision). I almost think there is a better chance to knock him out. "spider" is the perfect nickname for him.
I was also blown away when I rewatched the Coutore/Silva championship fight. Randy's striking impressed me so much. There's something to be said Silva was not knocked out but there is also something to be said how many times Coutore landed, consistently for five rounds no less. Really inspirational that old guy heh. He is also aptly nicknamed.
I'm really having to work to get sentences out right now. I'm really tired, I apoligize for sentence structure bleh.

Anderson's next fight should be interesting and will show just how good he is. If he gets by Henderson I can only think of a few guys in the MW division that would be interesting match-ups. Dana's said he'll never hire The Law so that leaves one to wait for GSP's move up... Wand wants to supposedly but only if Henderson wins so its moot in this discussion.

I'm still waiting for these Pride guys to blow me away. They are very good and respected but I'm still waiting for one of them to impress and excite me in the UFC. Of course this would be the fight for Henderson to do it in obviously.

Well, looks like The Spider did it again (by rear naked choke, no less). Had a bit of trouble there in the 1st round, although Hendo didn't do much of anything from the top.
Me thinks Silva will be ruling the middleweight division for a while.

There where a few things in that Lutter fight that suggests he isn't unbeatable but far be it from me to figure out who it will be and when it will happen.

So, anyone see the last one in my home privince last April 19th? Good stuff imho, wish I had been there in person... GSP sure made Serra his bitch (no offense to Serra, I like the guy, but you gotta admit he got mucho lucky last time)... Looks like Fitch is next for GSP. Which should be no problem for my fellow Québécquois...
