I rented GRID the other day, and sat down to give it a whirl earlier this evening. The game isn't bad, but there are no frills to it. It's basically DIRT, but this time around the races are on paved tracks. There are a lot of different racing events in the game including Destruction Derby contests, but they're pretty much lap races too. There are several different classes of racing in the game too, but any decent racer that's come out in the past 5 years has that going for it. The game doesn't suck by any means, but for some reason I had high expectations. My expectations were not met, but I've played a lot of racing games that are worse than Grid. IMO it's a passable attempt at an arcade styled racer, but to be honest there are WAY better games out there in the genre. GRID is a good rental, but if you've been thinking of buying it think again.
What do you guys think of it?

I think you need to play it more, it's the sequel to TOCA 3, there is no game that exists with the amount of racing types and variety to be found in this game IMO.

I really want this game, my work never recieved a copy, so I just put some orders in the other week, man we suck with video game inventory. Anyhow, I loved DIRT, to be honest, I'm already ready for DiRT 2, my favorite racing series of all time has got to be the project gotham series, and since that seems to have run it's course, this looks like the next best thing, if not BETTER.
Once I get it, I'll let you know what I think.
