Netflix On Demand Standalone player

Only $100 with unlimited movies

this looks pretty spiffy actually, not a bad price to pay if you want something to just show movies and are a netflix subscriber.

The ondemand movie selection has been getting better IMO, especially the horror section.

The overall quality of the on demand titles available on netflix has been on the rise as of late. Maybe I should look into the stand alone player. It sounds pretty cool. I'm STILL waiting to see Inside. I've been waiting for almost 3 months if memory serves...

Personally I wouldn't immediately jump on this. I really, really like the idea. It looks like a quality product and the price is reasonable. However, it sounds like picture quality is still below VHS standards (I'm on Netflix and use on demand quite a bit, the PC picture quality is passable, but barely). And I would have to be given the opportunity to test the streaming to make sure there was no significant lag time (at home this is excellent for me on my PC, however it depends on the speed of your connection, many times in hotels the on demand lags and pauses are unbearable, sometimes it only works if you spend a few hours queuing the movie first). Also, Netflix seems pretty stable, but what if Blockbuster manages to kick their ass over the next 12 months. Suddenly the purchase price didn't take you nearly as far as you thought it would. I'm not trying to dog this product, but especially due to the picture quality I'm pretty sure it's not for me.

I might consider looking at it more seriously if/when they go HD as mentioned in the link.

I have the D-Link DSM-520 player and I just learned they are adding netflic MOD support as well, it seems Netflix is really spreading out the support which can only strengthen their userbase more and more, so I would say expect to see it on your Xbox 360 within the year.

Even though I kinda poo-poo'ed it above, I think this is going to be a homerun for Netflix.
