The Wii is not Xbox 360, it is not PS3, Everyone has had to come to terms that it's never going to be an HD powerful graphics machine. But the sad thing is developers have been giving us Sub Gamecube/PS2 level graphics and we have come to accept that this is all the machine is capable of, and that is not only sad, it's sickening. The wii is so much more capable than that.
So along comes high voltage who says not only do Wii fans want a really good mature FPS game, but they want an engine to push the system a bit... so they said fuck it and made one.
Conduit Preview
The link has a tech demo of the lighting technology which is actually quite impressive and can't be noticed in the screenshots below.
"It's called The Conduit and it takes place during present day. Washington D.C. finds itself the epicenter of an extraterrestrial attack and it's up to gamers, as the secret service's Agent Ford, to discover the truth hidden behind the invasion. To do that, he'll need a variety of guns and the skills to use them. High Voltage calls The Conduit a straightforward first-person shooter in the style of Halo, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 or Resistance: Fall of Man – basically, fast, run-and-gun battles and stylized weapons. The Conduit also features advanced enemy artificial intelligence enabling "human-like behavior" and a special device called the All Seeing Eye (or ASE), which, according to the studio, allows players to "reveal concealed objects and enemies, providing a deeper level of puzzle-solving." "

Looks like one to keep an eye on.

If this would've happened 4 months ago I'd still have a Nintendo Wii. I got tired of all the kiddie bullshit that Nintendo promised wouldn't happen this time around. I distinctly remember a Nintendo rep at one of the gaming expos stating that Nintendo would have plenty of games for adult gamers on the Wii. How long can you play Wii sports before you want to shoot something in the face?
There are some really good games for the Wii, but very few of them are for mature gamers.

I am happy with mine but I like games that are fun and the theme does not really attract me to a game. The real thing to understand is it will have a lot of content, what truely happened is that no developers thought the thing would take off like it did and they put all of their resources into PS3/360, they were caught off guard, remember most of the games you are seeing now have been in the works for 5-6 years now (they just don't get announced until 1-2 years before release). They have jumped on the wii and threw out some shitty quick ports to get in the game, but the real original material won't be surfacing until 2009 at the least.
There is a lot of good mature content on it, but it does need more.. at the same time I'm glad we are not getting piles of generic space marine crap like the other systems are as well.

Yeah, violence in video games just for violence sake is lame, but how awesome would a Gears Of War or Halo type game be on the Nintendo Wii? It would be amazing, the system could provide the best First Person Shooters of all time. I just got tired of waiting for them. My Wii had an inch and a half of dust on it when I decided to get rid of it, but once the great games start coming I'll buy another one...

Dunno if you read the link, the thing is Nintendo is pushing for more Mature titles, the makers of this game are pushing for them.. but the publishers are being really lame about it.. There is another publisher who had a really great horror game for the wii about halfway done, everyone said it looked amazing but they could not find a publisher. The company behind this is facing the same problem, publishers want family friendly games and they are fighting hard to break that mold.

After the N64 and the Game Cube Nintendo has been labeled the kiddie machine. It's going to be difficult to change that. To be honest it's hard to believe that Nintendo Game Cube had the Resident Evil exclusives for as long as it did. I must admit that R.E. seemed perfectly at home on the console though...

The Group behind this game is called "High Voltage", they brought us the Hunter:The Reckoning games and such. Looks like they actually are something to get excited about.
They have shown two wiiware games in the past week to go along with this FPS, one of which is Animales De La Muerte
this looks interesting as hell, basically a Mexican Zoo has been infected by zombie animals, so it's your job to wipe out the zombies and save the uninfecteds. They take the cute little style of Animal Crossing and such titles and then fill it will blood and guts. Looks fun, actually the gameplay looks similar to a Hunter/Diablo style overhead slasher. This is a Wiiware title meaning it's going to be $5-$10 and just a quick download.
