Some Great Hammer Titles Being Released
      #136637 - 03/12/08 06:44 AM

According to various sites, online, the following Hammer films will see DVD releases in 2008:

-The Nanny
-The Stranglers of Bombay
-Terror of the Tongs
-Devil-Ship Pirates
-Pirates of Blood River

I believe, The Nanny comes out in April and a street date for the other titles, which I believe will be released as a collection, hasn't been given, yet. Still, something to definitely look forward to.

It was also announced today that Legend Films (the colorization people) will be releasing THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH as part of a licensing deal with Paramount for various classic titles, which also includes THE SKULL, THE DEADLY BEES, PHASE IV, ZPG, William Castle's THE BUSY BODY and the comedy SERIAL, with Christopher Lee as a gay biker. THE SKULL comes out June 3, although Legend has indicated they may be selling it through their website earlier. No release date yet for MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH.

I'm thrilled about; The Man Who Could Cheat Death, The Skull and The Deadly Bees. I never thought we'd see, The Deadly Bees on DVD, hell, that never received a VHS release, in the States, did it?

Thanks for the bonus good news, Jameson.

I'm excited about MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH since it's just about the last Hammer horror I've never seen. Cover art for the genre-related Legend releases can be seen here:

FYI, guys.. I just got back from Target and they have many of the Legend Films releases set for June release out for sale NOW. I picked up THE SKULL for $9.99!

Out of the ones from that link I also saw: ZPG, STUDENT BODIES, THE BUSY BOY, JEKYLL AND HYDE TOGETHER AGAIN, POSSESSION OF JOEL DELANEY. No luck on the other titles, but who knows, titles may vary from store to store. $9.99 is a lot cheaper than what either Deep Discount or Amazon have them listed for at the moment.

After talking to a few people, my Target may be the sole exception to these titles breaking street date. So please, don't get your hopes up.
