The Town that Dreaded Sundown
      #131317 - 08/12/06 08:20 PM

Man this has got to be one of the most original films of the decade, released in 77 it tells the tale of the real-life murders that happened on the Texas border town of Texarkana in 1946. The film is in documentary style with the narration starting about the post-war atmosphere and then settling in the unsettling matter of the Phantom, a man wearing a pillow case who prowled the nights in lovers lanes and other secluded spots targeting teenagers mostly. Very goot film and very creepy to this day since it's step-by-step actually happenend, the part of the trombone murder is very sick, b-movie master Charles B. Pierce's (Boggy Creek 1 and 2) masterpiece i'd say. I liked the parts of the police having to dress up as ladies (with jokes thrown all around) and sit in cars in order to attract the killer (unsuccessfully though), those brave men led by one of the most famous sheriffs of the time. It's a shame this isn't on dvd yet!!

This seems like a great movie.

Indeed it is. A DVD is inevitable I'd imagine, considering it's production and popularity, but when is the question.

I sort of dislike the documentary style of it. Just seems a bit, I dunno, formal or whatever.
Despite that, it's still an interesting film.

But is this in the right place, forum-wise?
