Fritz Lang's "M"

I just watched this today. It's an amazing film. I was actually rooting for Peter Lorre at times to make his escape (shame).

Indeed it is an amazing film. Lorre plays his role with such realism that it's easy at times to look at things through his eyes. A masterful film.

Truly an awesome movie. Historic in film, and Lorre is (unsurprisingly) amazing in this.

I also just watched this for the first time the other day. I was sucked into this from the very beginning. The only moment I was taken away from the movie was the very end during Lorre's speech...I had to take myself out of it and realize that he was only acting. You want him to be caught the whole time, then your spun completely around within 2 minutes, and are actually rooting for him after it all.

This is one of those movies that continues to stand the test of time. Lorre's acting is unbelievable and Lang's directing--cinematography, use of space, sound, and lighting--is unprecedented. Some of these old-school movies come off as being a bit dated--this is definitely not one of them.

I'm always amazed that this movie was made in 1931.
