In the name of the king- mother of god let this be the end!!!

New Boll production tanks at boxoffice

"Uwe Boll has done it again. Like House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and BloodRayne, the latest game-based film from the outspoken--but never outpunched--German director, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, has bombed critically and commercially.

After reviewers got medieval on the RPG-inspired fantasy/adventure, audiences shunned it like the Bubonic Plague. From Friday, January 11 to Sunday, January 13, In the Name of the King took in only $3.3 million in US theaters, averaging just $2,002 on each of its 1,600 screens. The not-so-princely sum wasn't even enough to put the film in the top 10, which was capped by the Jack Nicholson/Morgan Freeman cancer comedy The Bucket List.

Though Boll is no stranger to criticism and weak grosses, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale's failure will be especially painful on two levels. First, it is unlikely that given its estimated $60 million budget, the would-be epic will become profitable via international and video sales, as Boll insists his past projects have been. Secondly, the film featured a higher-profile ensemble cast than other Boll projects, starring Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman, Matthew Lillard, and Kristanna Loken.

Boll's upcoming game-to-film projects include the unstarted Far Cry adaptation and Postal, set for release in February."

The German tax loophole that has existed that allows crappy films like this to be made and written off has been repealed, now that investors can not continue to profit off a tanking film, let's see how long this man still has a career.

Hehehe, yeah that thing looks awful

Tho now that I know about the tax loophole thing, I can't help but have a certain respect for Boll. The fact that he heard of a way to profit from making purposely godawful movies, then actually went ahead and did it, is just too funny and clever for me to actually hate the guy. He's like some sort of real-life comedy character. Plus he knows how to box

I think it was actually those who funded his films really knowing about the loophole, the man himself seems to be in denial and thinks it's all because his movies are good and they respect his art regardless of sales.

Woah, if that's the case then Boll's picture needs to be in the dictionary next to the word ''delusional''!!

Although Postal actually looks pretty good... Man, I never, EVER thought I'd be saying that about a Uwe Boll flick

I know, that one trailer was actually pretty amusing.
I think he can handle comedy because
A) he did not write it and
B) his complete obliviousness to storytelling and structure won't hurt a comedy so much if it's well written.

I fear for the day he gets the approval to a good game that would make a good movie. If he ever got the greenlight to adapt Bioshock or something like that, there would be no hope for any video game film to be good.

He got Farcry, while not on the same level as Bioshock in the story area, it still coulda been a butt kicking movie.
Personally I thought Alone in the Dark and Bloodrayne could have and should have been good movies as well.

Man o man does this look lame. (unsurprisingly)

I read somewhere that Splinter Cell is being made into a movie, as well. :sigh:

Alone of the Dark could have been. I never really thought much of Bloodrayne.

One thing you can say: Uwe makes the RE movies look like classics.
